What is a boiler grate?
The grateused to support coal and firewood. The grate is subjected to the greatest heat due to the heat generated by the fuel. To cool the burner and provide good air for the combustion process, we arrange grooves for the air to go from the air box under the burner to the combustion chamber. The grate is usually made of cast iron. The entire dial is divided into several plates for easy disassembly and expansion slots for cast iron. During operation, if the air supply is not good or the air slots are sealed, the recorder may be deformed or burned.
Signs to identify damaged boilers
For manual fixed grate:
– Broken log, shaker (usually found in fire tube boilers) when the boiler operation is over, flip or shake the grate to let the slag fall to the bottom of the furnace.
– Grate failure of the working boiler, see a drop of coal on the burner, see burned and unburned coal falling under the furnace, sometimes only the grate is deformed but has not broken and falls completely under the furnace.
For boiler automatic chain grate:
– The burner is in motion and suddenly stops, the burner in the middle of the furnace is too hot, if it is stopped for a long time, it can burn this part and cause deformation in other parts of the burner.
– Record the boiler is in normal motion, suddenly moving abnormally, sometimes fast, sometimes slow down, or sometimes it stops for a bit and then continues to run.
Causes of boiler damaged:
The main cause of fire, breakage, and jam in the boiler is due to improper use of air in the combustion chamber. The supply of wind is too little, causing the underside of the grate to not be cooled in time, overheating, causing fire and breaking the grate. If the track sprocket falls into the sprocket gears, it will cause a jam to stop the grate.
For the shaking and overturning records of the boiler, in addition to heat, it can also be caused by mechanical causes such as broken latch on the crankshaft, shaker, or worn out too wide when closing down. does not fit into the old joint correctly, is displaced or has not reached the horizontal surface.
There are also other reasons such as:
Using iron rods, iron rakes are too heavy to be thrown on the grate, causing the boiler burners to break and crack.
Manufacturing grates with cast iron materials is too bad to withstand high temperatures.
Boiler burn troubleshooting guide:
For chain grate
If some of the boiler plates are burned and broken without jamming, then cover the grate with more coal and maintain the fan at a relatively high level.
Let the log run slowly until a fault is found at the grate check door, will stop recording, quickly replace the damaged log sheets.
Never turn off the fan under the grate when the grate is stopped, because doing so will overheat the grate and cause serious problems on the entire grate.
If for some reason the burner is connected, run the grate back for a distance of 2m, then run the furnace again in the normal direction. If the grate is movable, just look closely at the dial, if you see a few burned sheets, replace the damaged ones.
If the boiler burner cannot run back, or it can run back, but when it comes to the damaged log, it is stuck, it is imperative to stop the emergency furnace.
For manual burning static recording
When the overturn grate is damaged, the shaker must stop the fault furnace, in order to repair the damaged grate.
When a fixed grate is damaged, you can use iron rods to beat the boiler, tie the new ones with ropes and put them in the right place to replace them. The grates that have sagged even if they are not broken, must be replaced with other grates like the method mentioned above.
Note: in the process of manually changing the burner, it is necessary to open all the air inlets at the bottom of the burner, limit the opening of the coal door, and be careful not to run the propeller fan when changing the boiler burner, because it is easy to cause accidents for workers. repair.
